San Carlos City Pioneers in JobStart Program in Negros Occidental

San Carlos City thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is the very first local government unit in Negros Occidental Province to implement the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) JobStart Program.

This was cited by DOLE-Negros Island Region Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga during the signing of the Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) between San Carlos City represented by City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. and the DOLE represented by Sarcauga last July 14, 2017.

Sarcauga added that said program aimed at providing the out-of-school youth of San Carlos City whose age ranging from 18-24 employment facilitation services with the right labor market or employer thru knowledge, technical and skills enhancement trainings also provided by the DOLE in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and other partner agencies.

PESO Senior Manpower Dev’t. Officer Delia Camasura said that the city was chosen for said program due to its high level of readiness thru its diligent implementation of the programs of the DOLE.

The city mayor stressed the important role of partner agencies like the DOLE in the city’s development effort and thanked said agency for choosing San Carlos City as pilot implementer of said program in the Negros Occidental province.

Said MOU provided that the city government thru the PESO will conduct job matching and referral; process training grants to JobStart trainees and maintain a complete profile and record of transactions of program participants and employers among others.
