San Carlos City, Environmentally Sustainable City in 2017 ASEAN ESC Awards

The city government of San Carlos awarded anew in the Association of South East Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) 4th ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable Cities (ESC) Awards for 2017 last Sept. 12, 2017.

Said award was given during the 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting On The Environment and Related Meetings held at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Brunei Darussalam, being this year’s host to said meeting.

San Carlos City won in the city nominations for its best practices in environmental protection including sustainable marine conservation.

Said awards aimed at recognizing the ASEAN cities’ initiatives and sharing best practices in keeping its environment clean, green and liveable while meeting the social and economic needs of the people.

Atty. Alexander Y. Ongtiaobok, San Carlos City Sangguniang Panlungsod Member and Chairman of the Committee on the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and Engr. Arthur Batomalaque, Enviromental Management Specialist II of the City Environment Management Office received said award.

San Carlos City was already awarded as Most Environmentally Sustainable City in South East Asia during the 3rd ASEAN ESC Awards held Oct. 30-31, 2014 in Vientiane Laos which made it as one of the 50 landmark cities in the ASEAN this year with the lantern lighting last August 8.
