San Carlos bags Hall of Fame as Model Solid Waste Management board in province Press Release - July 6, 2011

San Carlos City bagged the Hall of Fame Award for winning the Model Solid Waste Management Board award for three consecutive years in the Provincial Search for Model Solid Waste Management Board.
San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor, Jr. received the Hall of Fame plaque plus P75,000 during the closing ceremonies of the 19th Provincial Environment Week Celebration last June 24, 2011 at Capitol Social Hall, Bacolod City.
At the same time, the city emerged champion in the search for 2010 Most Outstanding LGU on Environmental Management (City Category-Year 3) and received a trophy and P40,000. Under this category, the city received three special awards as Best in Solid Waste Management, Best in Sustainability and Best in Environmental Advocacy Program.
In addition, San Carlos City also landed second place in the provincial search for Model Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) for 2010 which carried a trophy and P50,000 prize.
The city received the Hall of Fame award for being Model Solid Waste Management Board for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.
City Mayor Valmayor, Jr. and former City Mayor Eugenio V. Lacson received the awards together with SP Member Rommel Debulgado, chairman, SP Committee on Environment; Engr. Loreto C. Sanchez, Senior Environmental Management Specialist; and Edward Burgos, Aquaculturist III of the City Agriculture Office.
The Solid Waste Management Board is composed of City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor, Jr., chairman, with members, City Administrator Francisco Tolcidas; SCDB Managing Director Anacleto Villarante; Genesys Foundation Executive Director Ma. Rose Solis; SP Member Rommel T. Debulgado, DILG San Carlos CLGOO Marissa Costelo, ABC President Mark Cui, and SK President Lady Lehi Lambayong.
The provincial Solid Waste Management and FARMC evaluators evaluated the city’s 2010 accomplishments in both areas last May 23 and 24, 2011. |
