A. HISTORICAL
Broce Ancestral House – built in 1934. Formerly the “Old Municipal Hall”. It was used as a Japanese Garrison during World War II.
San Carlos Borromeo Cathedral – this Gothic, Byzantine and Romanesque design cathedral became a parish in 1895 during the term of Fr. Pedro Chivite, OAR. It became a diocese on February 10, 1998
Pano-olan Pottery – center of pottery industry of San Carlos City. Can be found along the highway going to Dumaguete City.
Trisikad / Pedicab – not a menace but rather an industry that generates employment to about 1,500 pedicab drives and operators running around the city. This pedicab has been unique because of its old style big wheels. A typical vehicle to ride to see the city around. Alinsyawan Falls – cascading cool water falls, it is surrounded by lush trees and shrubs and very accessible by chartered “habal-habal”, motorcab or private vehicles. Travel time is only 35 minutes by private vehicle and 1 hour by public transport. San Carlos Hills (Choco Hills) – can be seen along the Negros Translink Highway in Brgy. Prosperidad. The hills differ from sizes and stretches up to another barangay. Travel time is 30 minutes from the city proper. Cave Lapus – rock formations, underground river and passageways. One is stimulated and finds thrills with this mysterious cave that enthralls many cave enthusiasts and venturers. Located in Upper Tongo, Brgy. Palampas, it is accessible more or less 1 hour by chartered motorcycle and trekking. New San Carlos Cemetery – Winner of the 4th Galing Pook Award and the 2nd Hall of Fame given by the Asian Institute of Management and Local Government Academy. A decent cemetery for the masses with memorial tree park as a component feature of the program.
San Carlos City Auditorium – this “salakot” inspired dome can accommodate 5,000 persons built at the center of the city public plaza. An ideal place for cultural, political, religious and educational purposes. Whispering Palms Island Resort
Paseo de Flores and Center Mall ( strolling and picnics) People’s Park Sipaway Island – also known as Refugio Island. It has century-old balite tree, public seawater swimming pool and white sand beaches. Beach resorts is also present on the island for overnight stays. Ideal for snorkeling, SCUBA diving and purely relax and recreation. Travel time is only 15 minutes from the pier.
Eco-Center – the latest trend in composting garbage of the city. Now the center of Lakbay-Aral among LGU’s from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The unique and less expensive project that can be easily replicated. San Carlos City Hall- the seat of the local government.
